Type specimen: Nuria albolineatus

Type locality: Tenasserim

Aquarium keeping: The fish is peaceful and thus suitable in community tank. The tank size should be 90 x 45 x 45 cm is better for the group of the fish. Water quality is not very critical, however lower pH and hardness are more preferable. The temperature should be 20o C to 30o C .Live food such as Daphnia, Tubifex worm are better for then, but flakes and pellets are also suitable.

Spawning: The tank breeding is carried out by making a screen which is designed to allow the eggs to fall through to bottom where the parents will not get the chance to eat the eggs. It is better to use the bare glass bottom aquarium in order to see the eggs clearly. The tank sizes hould be 60 x 20 x 20 cm. The male and female should be separated about one week, and place the female about 2 – 3 hours ahead of male. The female will spawn and eggs will be fertilized by male. After mating is complete, spawners are removed and let the eggs hatch in the same tank.
