Stream catfish & Asian Banjo Catfish
Akysids are small, subtle color, secretive catfishes with small eyes. Some species of Akysidae family are known as stream catfishes and some species are known as Asian Banjo catfishes. The species of this family are distributed in Assam and Southeast Asia. There are four genera,: Akysis, Acrochrordonichthys, Breitensteinic, and Paraakysis. In Myanmar only one genus, Akysis is found. At present four species of the genus, Akysis are discovered.
