Homoloptera bilineata Blyth 1861

Explanation of species name: The word species name bilineata refers to two lines on the body.
Original description: Blyth, 1861, J.Asiat. Soc. Beng, 29: 172
Type specimen: Homoloptera bilineata
Type locality: Meetan Lower Burma.
Distribution: Meetan, Taninthayi Division, and Bago Division, Myanmar.
Habitat: The loaches are found in streams with torrential frequent rain.
Characters: Body and abdomen are sub-cylindrical. The ventral surface of the body is flat. Head is also flat, and moderately depressed. The snout is broad, round, and pointed. Mouth is inferior, transverse, and slightly arched. Eyes are doso- lateral. The mouth has six barbels, four are rostral and two are maxillary. Dorsal fin is inserted above pelvic fins and anal fin is short. Caudal fin is forked. The maximum size is 7.5 – 10 cm. total length.
Sex differences: The plumpness of female indicates the sex.
Aquarium keeping: Water with abundance oxygen content is recommended.
Spawning: No record was found. .
